How we verify information

SalNavigator is an independent guide to Sal, Cape Verde. Every listing shows how its information was checked and when. A verification label applies to specific information — such as contact details, opening hours or prices — and is not an endorsement of the business or a guarantee of quality.

What the labels mean

• Owner Verified

  Information reviewed by SalNavigator and confirmed by the restaurant owner.

• Locally Checked

  SalNavigator checked this information in person on Sal.

• Source Checked

  This information was checked against the public sources listed.

• Needs Update

  Some of this information may be out of date and is waiting for a new check.

• Unverified

  This information has not been independently checked yet.

How we check

• We contact the business directly, usually by WhatsApp or in person, and record which details they confirmed.
• We visit places on Sal to confirm locations, opening hours and what is on offer.
• For public information we list the sources we used, such as the business's own website or social media.
• We only show a "last checked" date when a real check happened on that date. We never add dates or labels automatically.

Prices

Prices are copied exactly from the menu or price list the business supplied. When prices have been confirmed on the last-checked date, we present them as current. Prices from an older menu that have not been reconfirmed are marked as possibly out of date. Prices can change at any time — always confirm with the business before you go.

Corrections

Business owners and visitors can report outdated or incorrect information. We review every report, update the listing and record the new check date. Listings waiting for a recheck are labelled "Needs Update".
